TOURIST SPOT

Porto De Galinhas

Porto de Galinhas beach is world famous for its tourism. Therefore, a weight of being present in almost all places and of being the main local icon, this name was not given by the existence of chickens in the region. Such a name appears at the end of the 14th century with the prohibition of slavery in Brazil. In this period, the slave trade was quite common in the region. Ships arriving from Africa docked at Porto de Galinhas with the cellars occupied by clandestine slaves. One way smugglers committed themselves to the era of enforcement to cover slaves with boxes of D'Angola chickens, noble food of the Court.

Thus, in each barcode that arrives with a new consignment of slaves from Africa, there was a message that said "You have a new chicken in the port." From there, the name remained Porto de Galinhas.

The main reason is the spectacular natural pools that form very close to the coast. Its waters are wonderful, super transparent and warm, perfect for snorkeling between reefs and coral banks, enjoying the company of numerous
multi-colored fish. The setting is second to none: white sandy beaches, surrounded by coconut trees and lush tropical vegetation, away from urban life, ideal for a truly relaxed vacation.

There are seven continuous beaches, from Praia de Camboa, passing through the beaches of Muro Alto, Cupe, Porto de Galinhas until reaching Maracaípe and Pontal de Maracaípe. The natural pools are unforgettable. Its warm waters (average 28ºC / 90ºF) and crystalline, become true aquariums formed by coral banks.
